OperatingAustralia

The Qantas Group Pilot Academy is the flagship pilot training school of Australia's national carrier Qantas, based at Wellcamp Airport in Toowoomba, Queensland. It trains cadets from ab-initio through to airline-ready commercial pilots to build a talent pipeline for the Qantas Group.

Announced in 2018 and opened in 2019, the Academy delivers its flight training through Flight Training Adelaide (FTA) as the appointed training provider at the Toowoomba Wellcamp site. Cadets train on a fleet of 20 Diamond DA40 single-engine and 4 Diamond DA42 twin-engine aircraft, all fitted with Garmin G1000 glass cockpits for a seamless single- to multi-engine transition. Wellcamp Airport was chosen for its uncongested airspace and modern navigation aids. The Academy forms part of the Qantas Group's long-term strategy to secure future pilots for Qantas, QantasLink and Jetstar.
